Academic Staff Elections

Following a call for nominations to elect two members of the academic staff of the University to the ANU Council, a total of four nominations were received.  This election has two categories:   

  • One must have duties with a predominant research focus (‘the Academic staff (Institute) member”)
  • One must have duties involving both teaching and research (“the Academic staff (Faculties) member”).

One nomination was received for the Academic staff (Institute) member, therefore, as Returning Officer I declare that Professor Sasha (Alexander) Mikheyev has been elected unopposed.  The term of this appointment is from 30 September 2026 to 29 September 2028.

The three nominated candidates for the Academic Staff (Faculties) member are:

  • Associate Professor Elise Klein OAM
  • Dr Jessie Moritz
  • Associate Professor Bryan Wang

Voting for the Academic Staff (Faculties) member

Voting links will be issued on Wednesday 12 August 2026 and will close at 5pm (AEST) on Friday 4 September 2026.

All eligible voters will be sent a link via email on 12 August 2026.

Only members of the academic staff employed in a full-time or part-time standard or fixed term capacity, who are of or above the grade of academic level A, and who were paid a salary on payday 16 July 2026, are eligible to vote in this ballot.

The election scrutiny and outcome of the election will be announced on Monday 7 September 2026.

The elected staff member will hold office from 30 September 2026 until 29 September 2028.
