Council met last Friday to consider the University’s progress, priorities and future direction and for the third time, opened a session to staff, students and alumni to observe. Over 70 people registered to watch the 9.30–10.30am session.
We approved a number of governance reforms, including the separation of Audit & Risk from Finance oversight, the introduction of additional external expertise, and a program of governance, strategy, and risk workshops alongside the annual performance evaluation of Council.
We also approved the establishment of ANU One, a new pathway initiative designed to broaden student access and support future growth, and to return to two graduation periods each year from 2027.
The coming months will focus on staff wellbeing, governance renewal, the University's new Strategy, student growth, philanthropy and financial sustainability.

Bathed in morning sunlight and overlooking Black Mountain, these plants are receiving plenty of love, care, water and attention until their owners return for Semester 2.

Parking Lime scooters and e-bikes on campus
|
Lime scooters and e-bikes are a great way to get around campus, but the Campus Environment team has received complaints about vehicles being left in unsafe locations such as footpaths, pedestrian crossings and pram ramps. These create real safety risks for members of our community, particularly those with mobility needs.
Please use a designated parking zone and make sure you're not blocking access for others. To report unsafe parking contact fixmycampus@anu.edu.au.

The secret you have to solve
|
Tucked away on campus is a place where locked doors, cryptic clues and ticking clocks are all part of the experience.
The turns problem-solving into an adventure. The door doesn't open to just anyone. Access is typically organised through the Escape Room Hub team for courses, workshops and team experiences.
Originally developed to explore new ways of learning, the Escape Room Hub blends education with adventure, using puzzles and challenges to encourage collaboration, communication and creative thinking.
Once inside, you'll race against the clock to crack codes, uncover hidden clues, and piece together puzzles. What begins as a locked room quickly becomes a test of logic, creativity and teamwork, with secrets hiding in plain sight.
Most people walk past without ever realising it's there. But for those who step inside, the Escape Room Hub offers an experience unlike any other on campus. Just don't expect to find it by accident. Some mysteries only reveal themselves to those who go looking for them.
